The epic continues

Man, this little guy sure is taking some time to work on! Epic is right! Like I said, the pattern isn't hard, it's just taking some time to work through. There is a difference ya know! I have decided to keep him for myself when he is finished =) sorry, bro! I will e-mail my brother and nephew a picture of "what was going to be his" ha. I found an easy pattern I can whip of a pirate monster doll for my nephew. Turning only 2, the Trojan soldier is probably too small anyway. I think he will really like this and can play with it more. It reminds me of the uglydolls (this is a really cute site!) He has one of those. Well, the epic continues. At lease his head is now attached to his body. Beside him you see what the finished soldier will look like. Maybe tomorrow?

Trojan soldier in the making

This is my first project that I have tried from my birthday present, Creepy Cute Crochet. I thought I would make my nephew some of the cute dolls from this book for his 2 year birthday. I think he would like playing with them, and bugging his older sister with them. Well, I decided to start with the Trojan Soldier. I thought I would make several of the different soldiers from the book and a few monsters for the soldiers to fight. Turns out, the Trojan Soldier is level epic, meaning advanced. While I consider myself an advanced crocheter, this wasn't hard, it just took time to figure out the pattern. The author writes the patterns in a different way from most other crochet patters (I've heard others say this as well about this book). Now that I've worked through it, the others should go fast. Here is a picture of the pieces; you can't see them too well, but there is a dismembered head and body, helmet and crest that will be sewn onto the helmet...fingers crossed, tomorrow I will have sewed up all the pieces and put him together =) Now I want to keep him for myself...

Finished Projects!

Here are a few crochet projects that I started and just now got time to finish (now that it's summer!). The monkey granny square quilt is from The Happy Hooker and the hedge hog (named Harriet by the kids in my knitting club) and the baby owl are from the book Amigurumi World. I haven't found a name for my cutie baby owlie yet.

Oh yes- I made my first order from Knitpicks! I can't wait! I got 2 new books (they are all 40% off until the end of August right now!) and some yarn- wool! And the best thing- Harmony Wood needles set of DPNs in size 7 and Circulars. I've been wanting to try these needles forever!
Someday maybe I'll get the interchangeables! But the cable's don't come in 16" which is what I use because right now I am just into knitting hats (no sweaters yet!).
I am going to start some creatures from Creepy Cute Crochet for my nephew's birthday- he will be 2! So cute!
