The Circle of Life

Last night the Tony Awards were on. I think I've watched them every year since I was in middle school (or tried to watch every year!) with the dreams that someday I would be up there on stage. They still get to me...the first performance came on, which happened to be The Lion King, and even though I have seen it live on stage and know the songs by heart, I still got choked up and could feel tears of excitement flooding me! I always get that feeling when I see a live performance, as soon as the first note is played and the curtain goes up. The revival of South Pacific looks great! I hope to see it someday! Loretta Ables Sayre, who plays Bloody Mary, has an amazing story of how she came to be a part of the cast on Broadway. She was a singer, but not a big time star. She heard of open auditions in New York and decided to fly over there from Hawaii and audition- and became the star she is today! I'm sure you could find a much better version of this exciting story. It's the type of story that I would dream of for myself.

Have you ever heard that saying, "If you could do anything in life and know you would not fail, what would you do?" Mine would definitely be Broadway. If I knew I would succeed and not fail at it (the singing, the dancing, the acting, looking cute!) that would be my dream. What would you do if you knew you would not fail?

Pink Martini!

Last night my husband took me to see Pink Martini for my birthday. We had a good time. It was packed and I'm short, so I had to stand on my tip-toes and crane my head back a bit. They are a great group!

Today we are going to get some palm trees for our deck. In the summertime we like to have Friday night drinks on the back deck, which turns into Saturday night drinks the following night. But we always just call it Friday night drinks. It's our little tradition on summer nights. We set the umbrella up, put some music on, sit on the deck overlooking the field and trees, watch birds and the sun set all while sipping drinks and BBQing. We have some of our best times talking and catching up with one another after a busy week. If only it would stop raining so we could go out tonight...
